The theme of the 2017 Conference was around all of us being many parts of one body that brings healing and wholeness to our communities.

Many Parts of One Body – Madz Deyzel

Director of Grace Counselling, a ministry of Grace Family Church

Madz has developed the Wholeness Counselling Framework as a practical tool to aid pastors and lay counsellors navigate the complexities of people’s stories as they point people back to a right relationship with God.

She is also a contributor for the AACC ‘Transformation’ online publication.

Wendy is doing her doctorate on the interface of religion, spirituality and psychology.

She has a passion for understanding people, psychological distress and follows a bio-psychosocial-spiritual approach to treatment.


Sex and Porn Addiction – Brian Fowler

Sex and Porn Addiction Recovery Life Coach, Michigan USA

Brian Fowler has had 25 years’ experience in recovery from sexual addiction and speaks honestly and openly about the addiction, and the recovery journey.

Brian runs a recovery programme called ‘The Uncovering’.


Hope for Victims of Human Trafficking – Tabitha Lage

CEO of Hope for Women South Africa and Co-Founder of the African Alliance against Human Trafficking

Tabitha passionately works to empower our nation against human trafficking, exploitation, pornography and many other evils.

With relationships in government, law enforcement and local and international organisations, she continues to change the myths of trafficking.

 

God-Centred Play Therapy for Traumatised Children – Dr Karen van Zijl

Certified Child Life Specialist and Play Therapist. President and Co-founder of NPO OPSSA [The Organisation for Paediatric Support in South Africa]

Karen has represented SA at the Child Life Council’s International Summit on Paediatric Psychosocial Services in the USA.

She has published articles in international journals and lectures students and professionals in various disciplines.

Karen is an advocate for the rights of children in healthcare.


Attachment Theory – Marietjie Strydom

Specialised Social Worker, Play Therapist and International Presenter with a Master’s degree in Play Therapy

Marietjie works in both public and private sectors as she specialises in the field of Trauma and Attachment.

Both locally and abroad, she offers therapy and legal assessments, along with training to schools, parents and professionals.


Medication and the Christian Faith – Dr Annemarie Potgieter

MBChB, MMed Psych - Psychiatrist in private practice in Brooklyn, Pretoria

Dr Potgieter has served on many Advisory Boards of Pharmaceutical Companies and Advocacy Groups for the destigmatisation of mental illness.

She is passionate about a holistic approach to counselling involving Christian spirit, soul and body, where possible.
