STEP 1: THE WHOLENESS COURSE
The Wholeness Course covers the theology behind the model of counselling used. It is important that all wanting to be trained up as a lay counsellor do this course and apply the truths learned to their own lives.
The Wholeness Course is available on DVD for R100 with an accompanying work manual for R50.
This course can be run in a church, a small group or people can buy their own copy and work through it in the privacy of their own homes. The Wholeness Course is perfect for anyone seeking to understand how God fits into every aspect of their lives. It is a great next step for those new in their faith, for those seeking to grow and for those wishing to become lay counsellors.
Email email@example.com to find out next course dates.
STEP 2: THE WHOLENESS COUNSELLING INTENSIVE
This Intensive teaches the model / framework of counselling that Grace Counselling uses in lay counselling. The intensive will cover the theology and psychology behind the model, which aims at walking short-term goal-orientated journeys in pointing people back to a right relationship with God.
This Intensive is perfect for those wishing to become potential lay counsellors or coffee-cup conversationalists- pastors, small group leaders, mentors, team leaders, elders - anyone who would find themselves in a one-off counselling conversation over coffee where they would want their input to be effective and constructive in providing tools and pointing people back to a right relationship with God.
The training runs over a Friday evening from 6-9pm and Saturday from 9am-4pm.
This training is done by Grace Counselling Director Madz Deyzel, founder and of the Wholeness Counselling Framework for lay counsellors. Lay counselling is a specialised skill and it is only after Skills Training that one will be able to determine who is going to be on your counselling team.
STEP 3: COUNSELLING SKILLS TRAINING
For all those have completed the Wholeness Course and Training Intensive and now wish to become lay counsellors, the next step is to do the 7-week Counselling Skills Training. This runs over 7 weeks for 2 hours once a week. It covers basic counselling skills training done by Madz via DVD sessions, followed by practical triplet work facilitated by a trained Counselling Team Leader.
For students who have passed the Grace Counselling Wholeness Counselling Training Course and completed the recommended and additional reading on said course, SATS will award 12 RPL points and offer exemption from the following:
- PRA2121 Christian Counselling 1 into the BTh or
- PRA1121 Christian Relationships into the HCCL or
- CCC1120 Biblical Basis of Christian Counselling into the HCCC
