ADULT PSYCHOTHERAPY WORKSHOP

31 OCTOBER - 3 NOVEMBER 2018

PLAY AND PROJECTIVE TECHNIQUES TO DISCOVER AND HEAL THE WOUNDED CHILDREN WITHIN

Many people join the therapeutic community as a result of experiencing emotional pain and abandonment in their own childhood. Emotional abandonment during childhood has a long-lasting effect on one’s life.

This workshop is aimed at providing participants with a deep-seated understanding of the nature and consequences of childhood abandonment as an early disturbance, as well as pathways to healing through play and projective techniques.

The following aspects will be addressed:

• Child archetypes and their effect on your functioning

• Systems and feelings involved in inner child healing

• Identifying the core and wounded child within and their needs

• Meet the infant self (0-18 months), toddler self (18 months–3 years), pre-school self (3-6 years), primary school (6-12 years), young teen (12-15 years) and adolescent within

• Potential unresolved issues from each childhood stage and how this might influence the adult self

• Becoming aware of limiting beliefs due to inner child wounds

• Abandonment in the mother-child relationship

• The subtle process of emotional abandonment and its consequences

• Characteristic behaviour in abandonment

• The overshadowed self as a result of narcissistic wounding

• Psychodynamics of the narcissistically wounded person

• The role of the negative animus and anima as protective mechanisms in abandonment

• Therapeutic approaches with narcissistically wounded people

• Five steps for discovering, re-parenting and healing wounded child within

• Play and projective techniques in adult psychotherapy (drawings, paintings, sand tray therapy, clay play, bodily movement)

The focus will be on experiential learning.
